Scott Mayer began his real estate career in 1980 as a construction lender with Lloyd’s Bank in Sacramento and then the San Francisco Bay Area, resulting in his obtaining extensive expertise in loan origination, underwriting and documentation. 

From 1986 to 1991, he furthered his real estate lending career as the Senior Finance Officer in the Sacramento office of Norris, Beggs &   Simpson.  Responsibilities included loan and joint venture origination, underwriting, packaging, due diligence, closing and annual inspections of the properties in the mortgage portfolio. While at Norris, Beggs & Simpson, he led his team in the placement of approximately $500 million in equity transactions and over $1 Billion in debt transactions.

Scott recognized the need to have a more personal, proactive approach to commercial real estate lending.  In 1991, he joined forces with Jim Clifton and formed Mayer & Clifton Partners, Inc. to provide an enhanced level of professional service to borrower clients. 

Among the institutional clients he has represented are:  Copley Real Estate Advisors, The John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, The New England Mutual Life Insurance Company, Crown Life and The Manufacturer’s Life Insurance Company.

Scott is active in the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Northern California Mortgage Bankers Association, as well as serving as a Director of several non-profit Boards.

Mr. Mayer received a BS Degree from The University of Oregon in 1979.
