近日，北京大学光华管理学院院长刘俏在接受媒体采访时表示，他并不认为我国会进入所谓的“低欲望社会”，原因是目前我国的收入水平还相对较低。
刘俏指出，尽管我国面临着严重的老龄化问题，但她认为人们的需求并不会因此而减少。根据光华研究团队两年前的经济学模型测算，到2035年，我国65岁以上人口可能占总人口的23%，几乎每4个人中就有一个是65岁以上的老人。而与此同时，我国人均购买力水平预计将达到日本2004年的水平，当时日本的老龄化率为14%。然而，最近两年的生育等数据更新显示，老龄化的速度似乎还有加快的趋势，这是个蛮严重的问题。
然而，刘俏认为我国不会进入“低欲望社会”的主要原因是目前我国的收入水平还较低。他指出，很多人还没有得到基本的公共服务覆盖，他们内心深处存在着许多被压抑的需求。在14亿中国人口中，有许多人没有护照，没有乘坐过高铁或飞机，一辈子都没有离开过自己的城市。这些问题并不是由“低欲望”造成的，相反，刘俏更担心无法满足人们需求所带来的社会问题。
